Stoke Bardolph project wins UK AD & Biogas Industry Award 2014

4/7/2014

Severn Trent Water, NMC Nomenca and Paques have won the UK AD & Biogas Industry Award 2014 for Innovation in Sewage Treatment through AD for Severn Trent Water’s Stoke Bardolph project.

Best Sewage Treatment Award

Paques is proud to be partner in this award winning project!

Severn Trent Water’s Stoke Bardolph sewage treatment plant comprises a unique combination of innovative technologies like PHOSPAQ (Phosphorus recovery), ANAMMOX (Nitrogen removal) and UASBplus (Biogas production). The project excels in effective recovery and removal of nutrients and maximising energy production.

Phosphorus from the biosolids dewatering liquor is recovered by the PHOSPAQ process producing a valuable slow release fertiliser (struvite). The ANAMMOX technology effectively removes ammoniacal nitrogen significantly saving on aeration energy. A UASBplus anaerobic digestion reactor treats a trade waste producing biogas for utilisation by a CHP.

The project is a true demonstration of Paques’ adagio: ‘revitalizing resources’.
